Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how Wander Vacation Rentals LLC ("Wander Vacation Rentals," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit wandervacationrentals.com, inquire about a stay, make a reservation, or otherwise communicate with us.

Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you contact us, book a stay, join our newsletter, or ask about property management, we collect what you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing or property address, stay dates, number of guests, and anything you include in your message.

Booking and payment information. Reservations are completed on our booking site (book.wandervacationrentals.com), which is operated by our property management software provider, Uplisting. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers go directly to the payment processor; we do not see or store your full card number. Before arrival, we may also ask you to complete identity verification and the City of Big Bear Lake Good Neighbor agreement.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you request. If you accept cookies, Google Analytics and Google Ads also collect information about how you use our site and which ads led you here (see "Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising" below).

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to process and manage reservations, communicate before, during, and after your stay, respond to questions, verify identity and meet local rental rules, prevent fraud and damage, provide guest support, and comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. We also use it to improve our website and services and, where you have opted in, to send newsletters and occasional offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email.

Who We Share It With

We share personal information only as needed to run our business, with:

  • Booking and property management: Uplisting (our booking site and reservation system) and, if you book through them, platforms such as Airbnb.
  • Payments: Stripe.
  • Damage protection: Safely, which provides the accidental damage protection included with each reservation.
  • Email: Mailchimp (newsletter) and Resend (delivers contact-form messages to us).
  • Website hosting: Cloudflare.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google, only if you accept cookies.
  • Our team and contractors: cleaners and maintenance staff receive only what they need to prepare for and service your stay.
  • Legal and safety: government authorities when required by law (for example, occupancy tax or local rental rules), or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our guests, owners, neighbors, or us.

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing.

Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

Our site works without any tracking cookies. With your permission, we use two Google services:

  • Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on site, approximate location, device type).
  • Google Ads to measure which ads bring visitors to us and for remarketing, which means Google and other ad partners may show you our ads on other websites based on your visit to ours.

These services use first-party and third-party cookies and similar technologies, and Google may collect information about your activity on our site and across other websites over time. Google's use of this information is governed by Google's policies.

Your choices. Google's tags do not load until you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie Preferences" link at the bottom of every page. You can also opt out of personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at optout.networkadvertising.org and optout.aboutads.info.

Other services on our pages. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, some images from Unsplash, and maps from OpenStreetMap. These services receive your IP address when your browser loads their content, but they are not used to track you for advertising.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information: Google Analytics and Google Ads will not load and no advertising cookies are set. Some browsers also offer an older "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common standard for it, we do not respond to Do Not Track signals separately, but GPC is honored as described above, and you can always decline cookies on our banner.

Your Rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, subject to legal and operational exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax purposes). Contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

California Residents

California law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), may give California residents additional rights, including:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to get a copy of it.
  • The right to request deletion of personal information we have collected about you.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive information, such as identity-verification data, only to provide our services and meet legal requirements.
  • The right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • The right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We do not sell personal information for money. If you accept cookies, Google Ads remarketing may count as "sharing" personal information (such as your device identifiers and browsing activity on our site) for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out at any time with the button below, by declining cookies on our banner, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

To make any other request, email or call us using the details below. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof of authorization and ask you to verify your identity. We will respond within the time required by California law.

Categories of information (last 12 months). We collect identifiers and contact information (name, email, phone, address), booking and transaction details, identity-verification information, internet activity on our site, approximate location derived from IP address, and the contents of messages you send us. Sources: you, our booking and payment providers, and, with your consent, Google. Purposes and recipients are described in the sections above. We keep each category only as long as described under "Data Retention."

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy: to provide our services, respond to inquiries, fulfill bookings, comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Booking and financial records are typically retained for the period required by applicable law. Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

Data Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to safeguard personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. While we work to protect your information, no online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's Privacy

Our website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such information has been provided to us, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, services, or legal obligations. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and change the effective date at the top. If we make a material change to how we use or share personal information, we will provide a more prominent notice, such as a notice on our homepage.
